Disclosure of Representation in Trading Services (DORT)

The British Columbia Financial Services Authority (BCFSA) requires real estate professionals to provide consumers with a Disclosure of Representation in Trading Services (DORT) form before providing any trading services. This disclosure is designed to help you understand the different types of representation available to you and the duties owed by a real estate professional.

Understanding Representation

When you work with a real estate professional, you can choose to be represented as a client or to remain unrepresented.

  • As a Client: If you choose to be represented by the Ben Gauer and Bronson Job real estate team, we owe you special legal duties, including:
    • Loyalty: We must act only in your best interests.
    • Full Disclosure: We must tell you everything we know that might influence your decision in a transaction.
    • Avoid Conflicts of Interest: We must avoid any situation that would affect our duty to act in your best interests.
    • Confidentiality: We must keep your information confidential, even after our relationship ends.
  • As an Unrepresented Party: If you choose not to be represented, we are not your agents. We cannot provide you with advice, negotiate on your behalf, or share confidential information with you. We can only provide you with factual information and perform limited services.

Our Commitment to You

At the Ben Gauer and Bronson Job real estate team, we are committed to providing our clients with the highest level of service and representation. We take our duties of loyalty and confidentiality seriously and strive to ensure that your real estate experience is transparent, ethical, and successful.
