Who can vote

As a resident, all of the following must be true:

  • Canadian citizen
  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day
  • Resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration
  • Resident of Township of Langley
  • Not disqualified by any enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law

If you own property in the Township but live elsewhere, all of the following must be true:

  • 18 years of age or older on general voting day
  • a Canadian citizen
  • a resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration
  • a registered owner of real property in the Township of Langley for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration and who is an individual and not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust
  • not entitled to register as a resident elector of the Township
  • not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or be otherwise disqualified by law

Conditions people miss, in the Township’s words:

  • must only register in relation to one piece of property
  • if there is more than one registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector
  • If one of the owners of the property is a limited company, the property does not qualify.

A property owner who lives elsewhere must also bring proof that they are entitled to register for the property and, if it has more than one registered owner, the written consent of enough co-owners to make a majority (Local Government Act, sections 66 and 70).

Also worth knowing

Mail-in voting is not available. The Township of Langley General Local Election Bylaw does not include mail-in ballot options.

Curbside voting is available at all voting locations. A poll worker can come to your vehicle so you can cast your ballot without entering the building.

The Township also lists Special Poll opportunities on October 13 to 16, 2026. The Township lists these among its key dates and publishes no locations, hours or eligibility for them. Ask the Township if you think one applies to you.

Every date, address and condition on this page is transcribed from the Township of Langley, read on 2026-09-23: voting dates and locations and voting information. The Township is the authority. If anything here disagrees with it, believe them.
