School District 35 (Langley). R.E. Mountain Secondary is SD #35's only IB World School — its two stages have different doors. The Pre-IB Programme in Grades 9 and 10 is open only to students living in the R.E. Mountain catchment, and the district can ask for proof of residence. The IB Diploma Programme in Grades 11 and 12 takes applications from across the district. Both are competitive, and the criteria are published at sd35.bc.ca/remss/entrance-requirements. The school relocated to a new 160,000 sq ft facility (1,700-student capacity) at 7633 202A Street in September 2019.
Other catchment schools include Yorkson Creek Middle, Peter Ewart Middle, Donna Gabriel Robins Elementary (opened 2021), Lynn Fripps Elementary (LEED Gold, opened 2012, 510 capacity), and Richard Bulpitt Elementary (opened 2013, 510 capacity). Willoughby Elementary is being replaced under a February 2026 Township/SD #35 MOU — a replacement school is in feasibility planning.
From September 2027 the Willoughby Slope splits between two secondaries, and School District 35 has already published which chain every elementary follows. Willoughby Elementary goes to Yorkson Creek Middle, then Emery Dosdall Secondary. Lynn Fripps and Richard Bulpitt both go to stɑtl̓əw̓ Middle, then Emery Dosdall. Donna Gabriel Robins splits down the middle: the east side to stɑtl̓əw̓ Middle and Emery Dosdall, the west side to Peter Ewart Middle and R.E. Mountain. Josette Dandurand feeds Yorkson Creek Middle and R.E. Mountain, while Langley Meadows and R.C. Garnett Demonstration go through Peter Ewart Middle to R.E. Mountain.
Two details in that decision matter to a family part-way through school. A student entering Grade 12 at R.E. Mountain in September 2027 stays there to graduate, but younger siblings are not grandfathered with them, and the district says it will look at hardship cases individually through the existing cross-boundary process. The other is that Emery Dosdall is to get its own Pre-IB programme in Grades 9 and 10, which gives eastern Willoughby a second route into the stream rather than one. Both come from the district letter of May 1, 2026 at sd35.bc.ca, and the catchment maps remain the thing to check against a specific address.
