The regional board that runs the listing system across Vancouver and most of the region north and east of it. That reaches Burnaby, the North Shore, Richmond, New Westminster, the Tri-Cities, Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge and Squamish. It was the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver until it rebranded in 2024, which is why older data still carries the old name.
Greater Vancouver REALTORS (GVR), formerly the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV), is the largest of BC's 11 regional real estate boards by membership. The board rebranded from REBGV to GVR in 2024. Its territory covers Vancouver, Burnaby, the North Shore (West Vancouver + North Vancouver), Richmond, New Westminster, the Tri-Cities (Coquitlam + Port Coquitlam + Port Moody), Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, and Squamish. GVR is member-owned not-for-profit operating under CREA + BCREA frameworks.
For buyers and sellers, GVR matters primarily as the source of the monthly HPI Composite Benchmark statistics that drive Lower Mainland market reports, and as the operator of the MLS data feed that powers IDX search inside the GVR territory. Cross-board transactions between GVR and the Fraser Valley Real Estate Board (FVREB) — e.g., a Vancouver buyer purchasing in Surrey — operate under standard cooperation rules. The REBGV acronym still surfaces in older publications and historical sold-record data; the GVR rebrand is current as of 2024.
